Y. Jenny Chia, PhD
Assistant Director of Statistical Support



Y. Jenny Chia, PhD, is the assistant director of statistical support at the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research. Her major responsibilities are to perform imputations of missing values in California Health Interview Survey, to create public use files, and to provide statistical analysis and modeling support as well as analyze CHIS data.

Prior to Chia's current position, she was a senior statistican at the Center. She also worked as Principal SAS programmer/Analyst at PacifiCare Company, statistical consultant/senior SAS programmer at The National Center for Health Statistics, and health data analyst at Westat Company. At NCHS she was responsible for environmental health profile of National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 1999 (NHANES). She produced the first statistical results of the CDC's National Exposure Report Card, an ongoing assessment of the exposure of the U.S. population to toxic or potentially toxic substances. At Westat, she was responsible for data imputation, data management, and statistical support of Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey (MCBS) data. She was also involved in several health care research projects using a variety of health survey data including MCBS, NHANES, CPS, NHIS, MEPS, and SIPP.

Chia received her BA and MA in Economics from the National Chung Hsing University in Taipei, Taiwan, and a PhD in Economics from The University of Maryland at College Park.
