Christopher Pankonin, MPH, MS
Data Access Center Manager
Christopher Pankonin is the Data Access Center (DAC) Manager for the California Health Interview Survey (CHIS). Working closely with the Data Access and Confidentiality Manager, Pankonin's job duties include reviewing DAC applications from researchers requesting to use CHIS data, managing approved DAC projects through completion, maintaining DAC policy, conducting disclosure review of all publically released CHIS data and providing technical assistance to CHIS data users.
Prior to joining the Center, Pankonin completed a master's degree of public health at the University of Melbourne, which included conducting research on pharmacy syringe sales to injecting drug users in Hanoi, Vietnam, as a means of preventing HIV infections. He was involved with two projects, Cervical Health Histories Survey and a Breast Density Mammography Project, while completing a master of science in anthropology at the University of New Mexico.
Pankonin also received a bachelor of science at James Madison University in Virginia with a major in anthropology and minors in English and environmental studies.
