The Health DATA Program is a major public service program of the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research. The goal of the program is to build the capacity of advocates, organizations, and coalitions to use health research data to address public health policy issues important to the communities they serve.
Health DATA programs are made possible through the generous support of these organizations: The California Endowment, The California Wellness Foundation, Community Technology Foundation of California, Kaiser Permanente, and UCLA in LA.

2009 Training Conference
Staff and volunteers of organizations serving or advocating for older adults are invited to participate in this FREE one-day training conference on how to access and use research data on older populations in California to advance their policy and program goals.
Time: 9:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.

This is a free opportunity to LEARN & TEACH others in Spanish, how to obtain and use health data to benefit your organization and build healthy communities!Introducción a Datos de Salud Capacitar a los Capacitadores is a Train the Trainer course scheduled for September 10th, 11th and 17th at First 5 San Bernardino. The deadline to apply is Friday, September 4, 2009 by 5 p.m. Seating is limited, apply early. At the end of the training, you will receive a $125 stipend and a UCLA Certificate of Completion.

Learn how to use data from the California Health Interview Survey
The Center's Health DATA Program will conduct free, one-day AskCHIS workshop for researchers and staff of agencies and community-based organizations at the following locations:
Participants will learn how to access online data from the California Health Interview Survey (CHIS) on important health topics that impact California’s diverse population.
The Orange County workshop is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Parking is provided free of charge. Meals are not provided, however dining options are available near the training site.
Additional workshop information, such as the training site location, is provided after your registration has been processed and approved.

Learn to Use Health Data Without Leaving Home!
Health DATA is pleased to announce a new online version of the popular AskCHIS Community Workshop, which teaches health planners, advocates, policymakers and others how to access, interpret and apply data from the California Health Interview Survey using the AskCHIS data query system.
The 90-minute training is open to all skill levels - from beginners to those more familiar with data - and requires nothing more than a computer, an Internet connection and a telephone.
The online AskCHIS Community Workshop is the first of a number of online data training workshops planned by Health DATA in coming months.
