The Data & Democracy Statewide Training Initiative consists of two complementary projects, Data & Democracy and Datos y Democracia. Data & Democracy aims to enhance the capacity of California community based organizations to train their staff and volunteers to access and apply data to local public health planning and advocacy through the community assessment process. Participants build knowledge and skills for planning a community assessment; collecting and analyzing data; and reporting assessment findings. Participants also learn training skills to plan and conduct community assessment workshops for their staff and volunteers. Activities include the Data & Democracy Train the Trainer Course, Data Skill Clinics, and Regional Convenings of project participants and other community members.
The Data & Democracy Statewide Training Initiative was developed in 2005 and funded collaboratively by The California Endowment and The California Wellness Foundation. Data & Democracy was implemented in partnership with community organizations throughout California.
